Beaker Browser reimagined the web as a peer-to-peer medium rather than a client–server one. Built around the Dat protocol, it allowed users to create, host, and share websites directly from their own machines. Publishing became as simple as saving a file, and hosting became a local act rather than a service purchase.

Its real innovation was experiential. Beaker made the web feel writable again—personal, local, and tangible. By collapsing the distance between author and infrastructure, it demonstrated how user experience can encode values like ownership, autonomy, and participation without requiring users to understand the underlying complexity.
